The Astra Marketplace and Toy Academy 2023 was at the Columbus Convention Center in June. I heard about it on the podcast, Making it in the Toy Industry. I attended! It was interesting, exciting, and eye-opening. I only went for one day. I did not hear any of the speakers or attend the workshops. This required more money and time than I had.
I went to see the exhibits. After I bought my ticket, I got lots of emails from people who were exhibiting. It was fun to hear their toy stories. When attending, I talked with the exhibitors, met The Toy Coach, and took some pictures. I also distributed a few flyers about the games that I have designed.
Most exhibitors were trying to meet with potential stores and companies where their products could be sold. I often got asked, "What company are you with?" Some still chatted with me when they learned my story, but others were anxious to talk to buyers.
It was very well attended. I liked seeing the variety of displays. I'm glad that I made the effort. I am also glad that this is my hobby, not my livelihood.
